The Australian National Brooch Show 2017


  1.  ENTRIES: Entrants must be over 18 years of age. Each artist may enter up to four works.

  2. Entry fee is $5.00 per work. (CAS members Financial 2017-18 receive free entry). Previous entrants who have had brooches ACCEPTED are offered 2 free entries, for this show only. Entry fee payable by: Cheque, Money order, Credit Card, PayPal or EFT Note: if you have chosen to make a your payment by EFT (Direct Deposit), our Commonwealth Bank details are:

  3. SIZE: “Make your own” option. All 2 & 3 dimensional works must not exceed 10 cm x 5 cm overall dimensions, height or width and 3 cm in depth. Oversized works may be rejected. OR Artists wishing to participate, and choosing the “Wearable Art Card “ option, must create their artwork on the “Wearable Art Card “ as supplied by CAS. Contact CAS to receive cards. The artist agrees to only use the following materials on the card, (pen & ink, water colour, pastel (sealed with fixative) gouache or acrylic paints, (thinly painted) NO oil paints, impasto painting or 3D objects. CAS will heat laminate each “Wearable Art Card“ and mount it with a brooch pin (at no charge). Please indicate the top of work with an arrow e.g.: ^ on the back of the “wearable Art Card”

  4. Work may be in any stable medium (refer condition 3) and must be the original work of the artist entering it. Works must conform to the subject of this exhibition (brooches).

  5. For this exhibition, all “Make your own” works must have brooch pins attached to back. Please indicate TOP of brooch with an arrow e.g.: ^ on the back.

  6. Entries must be clearly marked on back with the artist's name and title of work, Please include dimensions, price and medium on the entry form.

  7. SALES: All works must be for sale. A 25% commission will be apply on all sales related to the exhibition. Cheques for all sold works during exhibition will be posted to entrant within 30 days of end of exhibition. Any cheques issued by us not cashed within 3 months of issue will be cancelled and no correspondence entered into.

  8. C.A.S. Inc. does not collect G.S.T. All prices must be total selling price. Any G.S.T. liability between the artist and the A.T.O. remains the responsibility of the artist.

  9. The selection committee will choose the works for exhibition from the works received. C.A.S. Inc. accepts no responsibility for lost or misplaced material. The C.A.S. Inc. reserves the right to decline to exhibit any work. Unsafe or wet works will be rejected. The committee’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  10. Exhibitors agree for their brooch/s to remain on show for the exhibition duration, early collection by entrant will not be permitted. CAS, at its discretion may allow purchasers to collect works during the exhibition. Any Brooch sold and collected/removed during the exhibition will be replaced by a colour photographic image of the sold work.

  11. ENTRIES CLOSE: All works to be sent by mail (Australia Post) and must be received by close of business, 5pm, on Monday 24 July 2017. Send completed entry forms, entry fee (if applicable) and artwork, to: Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc., P.O. Box 283, Richmond, Vic 3121. Late entries will not be accepted and will be returned to sender.

  12. RETURN OF UNSOLD WORKS: Unsold/unselected works will be returned by mail to artists, using postage stamps supplied by artist, at end of exhibition. Artist must ensure sufficient postage is supplied to cover return of unsold works.

  13. No works will be received by the society unless free of charge. No payment will be made by the society for mail, freight or any other charge incurred in the delivery and/or return of any selected work. Insurance costs are the responsibility of the artist.

  14. UNCOLLECTED WORKS: Works remaining uncollected or fees unpaid after 7 days from close of exhibition shall immediately become the property of C.A.S. Inc., and may be sold, destroyed or otherwise disposed of in such a manner as deemed fit, and thereafter the C.A.S. Inc. shall be under no liability whatever to the artist in respect of any work so destroyed or disposed of. 

  15. The C.A.S. Inc. will exercise reasonable care with work submitted, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever. Insurance is responsibility of artist.

  16. The C.A.S. Inc. reserves the right to photograph submitted artwork for promoting this and future exhibitions, for the catalogue and archival purposes (printed, electronic & web based).
